Opry Plaza Party

We went to the Opry Plaza Party last night - mostly to get out of the house for a while. I had Thursday and Friday off from work, but unfortunately, it was a very rainy holiday weekend. So by Saturday night we needed to get out and do something. Anything!

So we braved the mall traffic and went to the Opry House. This is Blue Mother Tupelo, or BMT, or Ricky & Micol Davis:

My first thought was that she could lose the moomoo and put on a real dress. But that's not very nice, so then I thought well, maybe that's her style. He has kind of a Zac Brown look going on. Whatever. I've been cooped up in the house for three days - maybe I'm just kind of cranky.

I had never heard of Blue Mother Tupelo, but their website says

"it's Tupelo, honey - the songs blend N'awlins-style blues with spare Appalachian acoustic grit, Southern Rock grooves, 60's flower-power dreaminess and rootsy rock."

Yup, that about sums it up. I think they should pick one. There's just way too much going on. It feels like they're trying to include all of those musical styles into each song.

They both have great voices. He plays the guitar and the dobro and she plays keyboard. They have a bass guitarist and a drummer. All the pieces are there, they could use a little refinement. It you want to listen to them, here is one of their videos. Grab a snack and get comfortable - it's pretty long.

One of the other 'entertainers' on the plaza was Pee Wee. Get it - stilt walker, pee wee.

Anyway, he was trying to get everyone to give him a high-five.

I gave him a high five - down low of course!!
