Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to my Mom.  Who raised three great (and good looking if I do say so myself) kids.
And to my Mother-In-Law who raised an equally ragtag wonderful family.
And to my children, I just want to say that you are wonderful adults and I am proud of you every day - but still find it hard to believe you're all grown up .  I still think of you as 'kids'.
I Love You All!
And to all the other Moms out there- Happy Mother's Day!!
Next year we get to add Jenn to the list of Moms!!

Happy 2015!

I know I've posted it before, but it makes me smile - and we need to do more of what makes us smile, don't we?

I don't usually make resolutions, I just try it improve myself in some small ways.

So this year I'm trying to be more organized, more productive and do more sewing.  I was fortunate to be able to change my work hours so now I'm home about 1-1/2 hours earlier every day, and not so exhausted.  I'm able to accomplish things in the evenings and still have a little time to relax.

Happy New Year everyone!  I wish you loads of health, happiness and prosperity!

Happy Father's Day!!

Happy Father's Day to my Dad

Or as they say in Sweden - Glad Fars Dag
He is the patriarch of this crew, and I must say we are quite an eclectic bunch.  This is the latest picture we have of (almost) everyone - this one from Thanksgiving 2012.

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads!!

Presidents Day

Contrary to what folks are saying on the blog at Groupon.com, we are not celebrating President Alexander Hamilton today.  Alexander Hamilton never was President of The United States.  He was the first Treasury Secretary, but never President.

Today we celebrate Presidents Day.  Or more specifically, the birthdays of George Washington (February 22) and Abraham Lincoln (February 12).

Washington was elected twice - unanimously - and was our first President.  He oversaw the creation of our government.

Lincoln was the 16th president, abolished slavery, and was assassinated at the Theater.

And now to celebrate, we get a day off of work.  Thanks George and Abe!!

    Groundhog Day

Do you know what today is?  It's Groundhog Day.

Sorry - not the Bill Murray movie, but the real groundhog day.

The day when all the media gathers in Pennsylvania and watches as this man, with all the pomp and circumstance you can imagine, pulls a rodent from a hole in the ground to determine if winter is over.  According to this little rodent we are going to have six more weeks of winter this year.

For goodness sakes people, get a grip - even the groundhog says

And besides, according to the Huffington Post:

Oh yeah, there's that other thing happening today, too

    Whatever.  I don't really care.

Maybe I will watch Bill Murray......

    A Change is Gonna Come

It's great to have an extra day off, isn't it? A long weekend, another day without an alarm clock. But lets not forget why we celebrate today, and what this day has become. We are not celebrating one person, or one movement, we are celebrating positive change and the difficulties that are overcome through persistence. The Civil Rights Movement was not successful through the actions of one person, but through the actions of many. It wasn't easy, it wasn't quick and it certainly wasn't painless. But it was successful. So when you think that just one person doing something good won't change anything - think again. If everyone thought that way, there would never have been a Million Man March. But there was - and every person there contributed to making a difference. So go out a make a difference - today, tomorrow, it doesn't matter when or how, it just matters that you do. And if you're not motivated yet, watch this video and remember that all of the hardships and struggle are helping to build a better world. Somewhere there is someone who will benefit from what you do. We all have a dream.....
